Salted Olive Oil Date Caramel – vegan & sugar-free

Salted Olive Oil Dattelkaramell – vegan & zuckerfrei

Our homemade date caramel with olive oil is the perfect, healthy alternative to traditional caramel – and completely free of refined sugar! With its velvety texture and fine, natural sweetness, it's wonderful as a spread, topping, or dip.

Ingredients

·       200g soft Medjool dates, pitted

·       4–5 tbsp warm water (depending on desired consistency)

·       2 tbsp mild extra virgin olive oil

·       1 tsp vanilla extract

·       A good pinch of sea salt (preferably Fleur de Sel)

·       Optional: 1 tbsp nut butter (e.g., cashew or almond – for extra creaminess)

·       Optional: 1 tsp Colladerm or Maca

Preparation

1.     Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender or food processor until creamy.

2.     Add water spoonful by spoonful as needed until a velvety caramel texture is achieved.

3.     Taste and adjust – perhaps more salt for a "salted caramel" kick or more vanilla.

4.     Store in a jar in the refrigerator (lasts about 1 week).

Serving Suggestions

·       As a spread on bread or banana bread

·       Stirred into yogurt or skyr

·       As a filling for chocolates or dates

·       With pancakes, waffles, or porridge

·       For dipping apple slices

·       Or directly from the spoon

The healthy benefits of the ingredients:

  • Medjool dates: Rich in fiber for good digestion, contain natural antioxidants, and provide quick energy.

  • Extra virgin olive oil: High-quality unsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants promote heart health and reduce inflammation.

  • Vanilla extract: Gives the caramel a delicious aroma and can have a calming effect on the body thanks to natural antioxidants.

  • Sea salt (Fleur de Sel): A touch of salt enhances the flavor and provides valuable minerals like magnesium and potassium.

  • Optional – nut butter: Almond or cashew butter provides extra creaminess and healthy fats, as well as plant-based protein.

  • Optional – collagen or maca: Collagen supports skin, hair, and joints, while maca, as an adaptogen, can promote energy and hormone balance.
